The intention of this project was to create a high-quality marketing-type image of a product, in this case a computer video card.
Although the card appears simple, the curved lines and beveled edges required extensive use of boolean modifiers on high-resolution geometry. Barcodes and labels were created in Adobe Illustrator. The entire scene makes use of only a single texture, a sample of Gaussian noise created in Photoshop. This texture is used to create the grainy variance on the surface of the video card.

A simple mirror surface was used for the ground. The "NVIDIA" and "QUADRO" text were each created in Adobe Illustrator, then imported into Blender as scalable vector graphics, which create paths.
Critical to rendering this scene efficiently, due to the use of five lamps to light the scene, was the use of a "Log Power" light path strategy.
This means that lights are sampled based on a value which scales by the logarithm of their power, such that bright lights are sampled more frequently, but not much more frequently, than dim lights.
Each angle rendered for approximately one hour.
